Transparent by design.
ONYXCHAT is simple: we cannot read your messages, and we do not harvest your data.
Effective Date: July 13, 2026
The Hybrid Encryption Guarantee
ONYXCHAT protects your messages with a hybrid encryption layer, not a single algorithm. The unmodified, audited libsignal library handles the Double Ratchet for forward secrecy, wrapped in an outer envelope that combines an ML-KEM-768 post-quantum key exchange with AES-256-GCM, combined via HKDF-SHA256. Every primitive comes from BouncyCastle's vetted PQC provider. Nothing here is a custom cipher.
We hold no decryption keys and cannot read, scan, or monetize your content. A fresh 96-bit random nonce is generated for every message, so there is no counter to desync across reinstalls or devices.
Data We Process (But Never Store)
To deliver messages, our relay temporarily processes minimal routing metadata in volatile memory. It is dropped instantly after delivery. There is no message database on the backend.
Third-Party Infrastructure
We don't proactively harvest personal data, but running secure infrastructure means some systemic logging happens at the platform level. We rely on:
- Firebase & Google Cloud: cryptographic authentication, rate-limiting, the encrypted message relay, and backup delivery.
- Google Search Console: traffic analytics and abuse-pattern detection for our website, not the app itself.
Any telemetry these providers process is used for infrastructure security and service integrity. We do not sell, rent, or trade it to anyone.
Google Drive Backups
If you enable backups, ONYXCHAT writes an encrypted archive directly to your personal Google Drive using the restricted drive.file scope. The vault key is protected by the same post-quantum layer used for messaging.
Sednium has zero access to your Google Drive. We cannot view, retrieve, or delete your backups.
What We NEVER Collect
We explicitly do not collect your name, phone number, contact list, GPS location, or IP address logs. We do not harvest contacts. Connections are made only via Routing IDs.
Security Posture & Assumption of Risk
We implement strong, standard cryptographic and security measures to defend against unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction of data. No digital transmission is entirely infallible, though. By using ONYXCHAT, you accept the inherent risks of digital communication.
Third-Party Perimeters

Acceptance & Eligibility
By accessing or using ONYXCHAT or any other service provided by Sednium Systems ("Sednium," "we," "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms. You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EEA/UK). If you do not agree to every provision here, uninstall the app and cease use of our services immediately.
Intellectual Property & Prohibited Use
ONYXCHAT is closed source. All code, algorithms, design systems, and intellectual property associated with it remain the exclusive property of Sednium Systems. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any of it without explicit written authorization.
You agree not to: reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the app or backend; attempt to breach, probe, or test our security measures without authorization; use automated scripts, scrapers, or bots against our infrastructure; or disrupt or intercept network traffic to or from our relay. Violating any of this results in immediate termination of access and may lead to legal action.
Your Keys, Your Responsibility
Your encryption keys are stored only on your device. We keep no backups of them. If you lose your phone, uninstall the app without backing up, or forget your recovery key, your messages are gone for good. We cannot recover them.
This is the tradeoff of a zero-knowledge design: nobody else holding a copy of your key means nobody else can misuse it, but it also means nobody else can rescue it for you.
User Conduct & Content
Because ONYXCHAT is end-to-end encrypted, we cannot moderate content. You are fully responsible for what you transmit. You agree not to use ONYXCHAT for illegal activities, distributing malware, or sharing exploitative material.
Service Availability
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or revoke access to any part of our services at our discretion, at any time, without prior notice or liability. In practice, this most often means blocking a Routing ID caught abusing the relay.
Limitation of Liability
ONYXCHAT and Sednium's other services are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sednium Systems and its core crew are not liable for:
- Loss of data, messages, or encryption keys.
- Failed message deliveries due to relay or FCM issues.
- Compromised or corrupted Google Drive backups.
- Any indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages arising from use of our services.
Our total cumulative liability shall not exceed USD $10.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions.
Termination
You can end this agreement anytime by uninstalling the app. Section §05 covers termination initiated by us.
